Red Shield Gunners Organise Agniveer Preparedness Program at Charaideo

The Red Shield Gunners, under the aegis of Spear Corps, in collaboration with the District Administration Charaideo, organised an Agniveer Preparedness Program at Borhat on Wednesday, drawing participation from approximately 200 aspiring students, including 56 girls from the region.

The program was aimed at motivating and mentoring local youth who wish to join the Indian Army under the Agniveer scheme. Participants were guided on physical fitness standards, endurance requirements, written examination patterns and the overall recruitment procedures for Agniveer entry.

During the event, students were given a detailed understanding of the preparation required for the recruitment process and the qualities essential for a career in the Armed Forces. The interaction also placed emphasis on discipline, dedication and leadership as core values that define a soldier’s life.

Girl participants formed a notable part of the gathering, reflecting a growing interest among young women in the region to explore career opportunities in national service. The organisers encouraged this trend and urged all participants to pursue their aspirations with commitment and focus.

The initiative was appreciated by the civil administration and the local community for its focus on youth empowerment and nation-building. By taking the outreach directly to Borhat, the Army sought to ensure that students from smaller towns and rural areas have access to the same guidance available to their counterparts in larger urban centres.

The Agniveer scheme, introduced by the Government of India, allows youth between the ages of 17.5 and 23 years to serve in the Armed Forces for a four-year tenure, after which a portion of recruits are retained for regular service based on merit and organisational requirements.

Programs such as the one held at Borhat are part of the Indian Army’s broader effort to maintain a connect with local communities across the Northeast and inspire the younger generation to consider service to the nation as a career. The Army has stated its commitment to continuing such outreach initiatives across the region in the coming months.
