Dibrugarh commemorated the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, India’s Iron Man, with a grand Padayatra on Monday, marking the second such march organised in his honour.
The procession commenced from Chowkidinghee Playground and traversed through Jiban Phukan Nagar, witnessing enthusiastic participation from diverse sections of society. Prior to the march, a solemn tribute programme was held at Chowkidinghee Playground, presided over by Assam Power Minister and Dibrugarh MLA Prasanta Phukan, alongside Deputy Mayor Ujjal Phukon and other dignitaries.

Minister Phukan inaugurated the Padayatra by lighting a ceremonial lamp and offering floral tributes to the statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, celebrating the architect of India’s unity and integration.
“Sardar Patel’s vision and determination unified our nation during its most critical period. His leadership in integrating 562 princely states into the Indian Union remains an unparalleled achievement in our history,” Minister Phukan said in his address, urging the younger generation to draw inspiration from Patel’s unwavering commitment to national unity.
