Binayananda Bharali will take over as the Resident Chief Executive (RCE) of Oil India Limited (OIL) at its Field Headquarters in Duliajan from November 1, bringing with him over 30 years of rich experience in the oil and gas sector.
Born in Jorhat, Assam, to Akoni Bharali and Sachidananda Bharali, he completed his schooling at Government Boys’ Higher Secondary School, Jorhat. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Geology from Jagannath Barooah College and an M Tech in Applied Geology from Dibrugarh University.
Bharali began his career with OIL in March 1995 as an Executive Trainee (Geology & Reservoir) at Duliajan and has since carved out a distinguished trajectory spanning more than three decades. He has made substantial contributions to the company’s Exploration and Development operations in various roles.

After spending his formative years as a geologist in the Geology and Reservoir Department at Duliajan, Bharali was transferred to OIL’s Corporate office in Noida in 2015. He initially served in the Business Development Department before being appointed General Manager (Executive Officer to the CMD), a role he occupied for three years until March 2025. He was later promoted to Executive Director (Geoscience).
Bharali possesses deep expertise in Field Development and Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) of Exploration & Production (E&P) assets, having headed the Technical Team of Business Development. He was instrumental in securing stakes in two of OIL’s flagship overseas E&P assets in Russia, significantly bolstering the company’s international footprint.
A distinguished geoscientist, Bharali has played a key role in enhancing OIL’s exploration, development, and reservoir management capabilities. He has authored and presented numerous technical papers at national and international platforms. He is a Member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), USA, and presently chairs the SPE Duliajan Chapter.
