6,000 Ex-Servicemen attend Mega Rally in Dibrugarh

Approximately 6,000 ex-servicemen and their families from across upper Assam converged at the Polo Ground in Dibrugarh on Sunday for a mega Ex-Servicemen Rally organised by the Armed Forces, marking one of the largest veteran outreach initiatives in the region.

The rally, conducted under the theme “Nishtha Se Sewa Tak” (From Dedication to Service), symbolised the unbroken journey from devoted service in uniform to continued commitment beyond military life. The event aimed to honour veterans’ selfless contributions while addressing their welfare needs through comprehensive and coordinated support services.

The massive gathering brought together former servicemen and their dependents from various districts of upper Assam, creating a significant platform for addressing long-standing grievances and facilitating access to entitled benefits. An array of welfare-oriented facilities was established at the venue to ensure veterans received immediate assistance.

Grievance redressal and pension assistance desks were set up to address complaints and resolve pension-related issues that many ex-servicemen face after retirement. These dedicated counters provided personalised attention to individual cases requiring intervention.

Aadhaar and SPARSH (System for Pension Administration Raksha) support centres were organised to facilitate critical documentation processes and resolve pension disbursement challenges. A dedicated legal aid centre proved particularly valuable, offering professional guidance on service matters, pension entitlements and other legal issues affecting ex-servicemen.

Recognising the healthcare needs of aging veterans, organisers established a medical camp staffed with specialist doctors. The camp provided comprehensive health check-ups and medical consultations for ex-servicemen and their dependents, addressing conditions that often require specialised attention but remain inaccessible in remote areas.

“The rally represents our unwavering commitment to those who dedicated their lives to protecting the nation. Through ‘Nishtha Se Sewa Tak,’ we ensure that the dedication they showed during service continues to be reciprocated through comprehensive welfare support,” a senior Army official said.
