Amidst the serene hills of Arunachal Pradesh’s Tirap district, the Khonsa Battalion of the Assam Rifles celebrated Christmas with profound enthusiasm and a vibrant festive spirit on Thursday. Held at the Battalion Headquarters, the event served as a powerful reminder of the unity and diversity that define the “Friends of the Hill People.”

The atmosphere at the headquarters was transformed into a hub of joy and togetherness. The celebrations commenced with a solemn prayer service, where personnel sought blessings for peace and prosperity in the region. This was followed by the melodious strains of carol singing, which echoed through the barracks, bringing a sense of home to those stationed far from their families.

A ceremonial cake-cutting ceremony stood as a highlight of the morning, symbolising the sweetness of harmony and the bonds of goodwill shared among all ranks. From senior officers to the newest recruits, the entire battalion stood together, reflecting the deep-seated esprit de corps that governs the force.

The event was a reflection of the Assam Rifles’ core values. By celebrating the diverse cultural and religious traditions of its personnel, the battalion reaffirmed its respect for the pluralistic fabric of India.
