Dibrugarh Airport has witnessed the cancellation of 34 IndiGo flight movements over the past seven days, causing significant disruption to air connectivity in Upper Assam. However, Airport Director Bangajit Saha assured on Thursday that the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and airport staff have been working tirelessly to ensure smooth passenger handling and efficient operations management during this temporary crisis.
Speaking about the ongoing situation, Saha stated that the airport administration has been coordinating closely with all stakeholders to minimise inconvenience to passengers. “The Airports Authority of India, Dibrugarh Airport, has been striving to ensure smooth handling of passengers and efficient management of operations during the temporary disruption in flight schedules caused by IndiGo flight cancellations over the past week,” he said.

The cancellation pattern reveals a progressive improvement in the situation. On December 5, operations hit their lowest point with 10 IndiGo movements cancelled. This was followed by six cancellations each on December 6 and 7, indicating the peak of the disruption. The situation showed signs of recovery on December 8 with only two cancellations, followed by four on December 9. After two cancellations on December 10, Thursday witnessed four cancelled movements again.

The cancelled flights on Thursday included 6E-2314/6604 operating on the Delhi-Dibrugarh-Delhi route and 6E-524/525 on the Agartala-Dibrugarh-Agartala sector. Dibrugarh Airport typically handles between 16 and 20 flight movements daily, making the recent cancellations a significant operational challenge affecting connectivity to major cities.
Airport Director Saha highlighted the coordinated response to the crisis. “AAI officials, airline staff, and security personnel worked in close coordination to extend full support, including guidance, real-time information, and necessary assistance to passengers,” he said. Passengers were informed about cancellations through appropriate channels by the airline prior to their scheduled departures to minimise inconvenience.
Saha urged passengers to contact the Dibrugarh Airport Operations Control Room at 916026177695 for assistance and real-time information regarding their flights. The control room has been functioning round-the-clock to address passenger queries and provide necessary support.
The airport administration highlighted that the situation has progressively improved, demonstrating a steady return to normalcy. “Through proactive measures, constant monitoring, and collaborative efforts of all stakeholders led by AAI, the situation remained under control and continued to improve rapidly,” officials stated.
Despite the week-long disruption, the airport’s operational efficiency has been maintained through dedicated teamwork. AAI Dibrugarh reaffirmed its commitment to passenger welfare, stating that it “remains committed to ensuring the highest standards of passenger comfort, safety, and operational efficiency.”
The temporary flight cancellations have impacted business travelers, tourists, and residents of Upper Assam who depend on air connectivity to major cities. However, the declining trend in cancellations offers hope that normal operations will resume fully in the coming days.
