Dibrugarh University Observes Constitution Day With Lecture Sessions

Dibrugarh University on Wednesday commemorated Constitution Day with a series of events organised by the Centre for Juridical Studies in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) and the National Service Scheme (NSS) Postgraduate unit. The programme aimed to reinforce the nation’s commitment to its foundational principles.

The event began with an administration of the Preamble’s oath by Dr Paramananda Sonowal, the University Registrar. Vice-Chancellor Prof Jiten Hazarika was among the attendees.

The programme featured two technical sessions. Experts Prof (Dr) Subha Jyoti Deka from Assam Medical College and Abhijit Saikia, Secretary of DLSA, Dibrugarh, delivered lectures on the constitutional framework.

A poster competition focused on Article 15(3) and Article 39(d) of the Constitution, which address provisions for women and the principle of equal pay. Winners were awarded after the sessions.

Emphasising the event’s mission, Abhijit Saikia stated, “Such initiatives are crucial for bridging the gap between the legal text and public consciousness. Our aim is to make the Constitution a living document for the youth.”
