A powerful wave of patriotism and national unity swept through Vadodara in Gujarat on Friday as Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal joined the Sardar@150 National Unity March, commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Speaking at an inaugural cultural programme at Aarana Lawns as the padyatra entered the city on its third day, the Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways hailed the massive participation. Sonowal stated that the march has “ignited a powerful wave of patriotism across India and showcased the determination of the nation’s youth to uphold Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s vision of a united India.”

He stated that the event was a testament to the nation’s collective resolve. “The passion of our youth proves that the spirit of Ek Bharat continues to inspire every citizen. Under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is moving ahead with the mission of Shreshtha Bharat and a Viksit Bharat,” Sonowal added.
The day’s march began from the Hare Krishna Temple at Anklav, witnessing strong participation from students, cultural groups, and community organisations. The initiative, led by MY Bharat, has seen immense traction nationwide, with 1,514 padyatras across over 620 districts, involving more than 1.5 million citizens.

The cultural programme featured ‘Sardar Gatha,’ a thematic performance on the Patel family, followed by vibrant displays of folk art and heritage celebrating unity. The 11-day padyatra will continue through Vadodara, culminating in a large event at Navlakhi Ground on Saturday.
Sonowal was joined by a host of dignitaries, including Union Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, MoS Ajay Tamta, several MPs, MLAs, and former Deputy Chief Minister Narhari Amin among others.
