Rashtriya Raksha University to Launch Cutting-Edge Maritime Simulator Lab on Navy Day

Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) will unveil India’s state-of-the-art Maritime Simulator Lab during SAMUNDRARAKSHAN 2.0, its flagship maritime security conclave, on December 4, coinciding with Indian Navy Day celebrations.

The School of Integrated Coastal and Maritime Security Studies (SICMSS) of RRU will host the event at its Lavad-Dahegam campus in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, bringing together over 200 maritime security professionals from across the country.

The Maritime Simulator Lab represents a significant advancement in India’s maritime defense infrastructure, offering hands-on training facilities for maritime interdiction, hot pursuits, law enforcement, search and rescue operations, navigation, and marine pollution response. The facility will serve Indian Maritime Forces, Law of the Sea professionals, and maritime law enforcement agencies from like-minded nations.

“This state-of-the-art simulator lab marks a watershed moment in India’s efforts to strengthen maritime security capabilities. It will provide realistic training scenarios that are crucial for preparing our maritime forces to handle complex security challenges,” said a senior official from SICMSS.

The second edition of the National Coastal Security Conclave will convene senior and mid-level officers from the Indian Navy, Indian Coast Guard, Central Industrial Security Force, Border Security Force, and Marine Police from all 13 coastal states and union territories. Representatives from maritime boards, port authorities, technology start-ups, and maritime companies will also participate.

“SAMUNDRARAKSHAN 2.0 embodies our vision of advancing from SAGAR to MAHASAGAR—Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions. This platform facilitates crucial knowledge sharing and best practices among maritime stakeholders,” remarked an RRU spokesperson.

The conclave will address four critical themes: integration of advanced technologies in maritime border surveillance, climate change implications for coastal security, counter-operations against drug trafficking through Indian ports, and sharing best practices through maritime exercises and cooperation.

Rashtriya Raksha University, established as an Institution of National Importance by the Parliament of India, specialises in national security and police administration research. Its SICMSS division focuses on advancing law, policy, and governance systems affecting coastal and maritime security at national, regional, and international levels.
