The nationwide operational crisis plaguing IndiGo has severely impacted connectivity in Northeast India, with Dibrugarh Airport witnessing a staggering 28 flight cancellations over the last five days. The disruptions have left hundreds of passengers stranded, with the critical Dibrugarh-Delhi route bearing the brunt of the cancellations.
According to data released by Dibrugarh Airport authorities, the cancellations began en masse on December 5, with 10 IndiGo movements scrapped. The chaos continued with six cancellations each on December 6 and 7, followed by two on December 8. The turmoil persisted Tuesday, with four more flights cancelled, including the key Delhi-Dibrugarh-Delhi service (6E-2314/6604).
Dibrugarh Airport Director Bangajit Saha confirmed the ongoing disruptions. “A total of 4 Indigo Movements, including 6E-893/467 and 6E-2314/6604, were cancelled today,” Saha stated on Tuesday.
The repeated grounding of flights on the Dibrugarh-Delhi sector, a vital commercial and travel link, has created significant hardship. Passengers face a frantic scramble for limited alternatives, often at prohibitive last-minute fares. The situation at Dibrugarh mirrors a national collapse for India’s largest carrier, which has cancelled over 1,000 flights across its network in recent days, marking one of its most severe operational challenges in years.

The airline pointed to “technology glitches, adverse weather conditions, rising airspace congestion, and complications arising from the rollout of updated Flight Duty Time Limitation (FDTL) norms” as primary causes for the unprecedented wave of cancellations.
With the airline warning that the situation remains fluid, passengers, particularly those on the Dibrugarh-Delhi and Dibrugarh-Kolkata routes, are being advised to verify their flight status extensively before heading to the airport.
