Normal flight operations were fully restored at Dibrugarh Airport on Friday, December 12, following a severe seven-day disruption that saw budget carrier IndiGo cancel a total of 34 flight movements. The breakdown of cancellations, provided by airport authorities, reveals the scale of the disruption that stranded hundreds of passengers.
The crisis began abruptly on December 5, with a peak of ten IndiGo cancellations. It continued with six cancellations each on December 6 and 7. A slight improvement was seen on December 8, with two cancellations, before a spike to four on December 9. The final days of the disruption saw two cancellations on December 10 and four on December 11, before normalcy returned on December 12.

Airport Director Bangajit Saha confirmed the restoration of services. “IndiGo operations at Dibrugarh Airport have resumed to normal after the temporary cancellations. All services are functioning smoothly, ensuring convenient travel for passengers.”
The disruption, attributed by the airline to challenges in implementing new pilot duty time norms and other operational factors, prompted intensive management efforts by the Airports Authority of India (AAI). During the week, officials worked to minimise passenger inconvenience through proactive communication and assistance.

With the schedule now stabilised, airport authorities anticipate consistent service through the busy winter travel period, marking an end to the most significant operational disruption at the airport in recent months.
