Governor Presents Citation to 11 Assam Rifles for Exemplary Service in Arunachal Pradesh

Arunachal Pradesh Governor, Lt General KT Parnaik, PVSM, UYSM, YSM (Retd), presented the prestigious Governor’s Citation to the 11th Battalion of the Assam Rifles at Lok Bhavan, Itanagar, on Monday, recognising the unit’s outstanding contribution to peace, security, and community welfare in the state.

The Citation was received by Commandant Col Vivek Tripathi, Sena Medal, along with Subedar Major Lekh Raj and Rifleman (General Duty) Neelesh Kumar, representing all ranks of the Battalion during the ceremonial presentation.

Presenting the honour, Governor Parnaik commended the 11 Assam Rifles for its exceptional professionalism, effective counter-insurgency operations, and its humane and compassionate approach in extending timely assistance to the civil administration and local populace.

“Through constant vigilance and robust security measures, the 11 Assam Rifles has ensured peace in its area of responsibility and also instilled a sense of safety and confidence among the people, thereby creating an enabling environment for development,” the Governor stated.

Congratulating the Commandant and all ranks on behalf of the people of Arunachal Pradesh, Governor Parnaik expressed confidence that the Battalion would continue to uphold its high standards of service and dedication. He particularly emphasised the significance of the unit’s Sadbhavana activities in strengthening the bond between armed forces and civilian communities.

“The Battalion’s Sadbhavana activities have played a vital role in strengthening mutual trust and harmony between the armed forces and the local communities,” Governor Parnaik observed, highlighting the importance of civil-military relations in maintaining peace and stability in border areas.

Placing the Battalion’s achievements in a broader national context, the Governor noted that such exemplary work by armed forces significantly contributes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ and reinforces the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ in Arunachal Pradesh.”

Despite numerous challenges, the 11 Assam Rifles has made commendable contributions towards peace, stability, and progress in the State,” Governor Parnaik said, acknowledging the difficult operational environment in which the Battalion operates.

The Assam Rifles, often called the “Sentinels of the Northeast,” plays a crucial role in maintaining security along India’s border with Myanmar while simultaneously engaging in community development and welfare activities. The Governor’s Citation represents one of the highest recognitions for exemplary service and dedication to duty in the state.
