A crucial high-level security review took place at Raj Bhavan, Itanagar, on November 29, as the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Command, Lt. General RC Tiwari, accompanied by the GOC of 3 Corps, Lt. General Abhijit S Pendharkar, called upon the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, Lt General (Retd) KT Parnaik.

The dignitaries engaged in extensive discussions covering a wide spectrum of issues critical to the state and national security. Key topics included the security apparatus along the eastern borders, the welfare programs for ex-servicemen (ESM), resolving land acquisition cases, and optimising the Army’s engagement with the State Government.

Governor Parnaik used the opportunity to articulate the nation’s vision of a forward-looking security state. He highlighted the commitment to ‘Sashakt, Surakshit aur Viksit Bharat’ (Empowered, Secure, and Developed India), emphasising the government’s focus on capability enhancement, infrastructure strengthening, and the adoption of advanced technologies, all while championing the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative in defense.

“A strong, secure, and progressive India not only strengthens national stability but also upholds ethical use of emerging technologies and reinforces humanitarian values globally,” the Governor said.

The Governor conveyed the deep appreciation of the people of Arunachal Pradesh to the Army Commander for maintaining exemplary peace and tranquility along the sensitive borders. He specifically commended the Eastern Army Command for promoting close community relations and adopting a highly collaborative approach in implementing the Vibrant Village Programme, which aims to improve the quality of life in border areas.

He noted that the strong goodwill built by the Indian Armed Forces has significantly contributed to the economic well-being of border residents, acting as a force multiplier for national security.

Addressing veteran welfare, the Governor urged the Army Commander to increase the frequency of Ex-Servicemen Rallies across the state’s challenging terrain. He further stressed the critical need to ensure the active participation of Veer Naris (war widows), acknowledging their profound sacrifice and vital role within the veteran community.
