Dibrugarh University Partners with Vietnam’s UIT to Promote Global Education

In a significant stride towards international academic integration, Dibrugarh University has formalised a partnership with the University of Information Technology – VNU-HCM (UIT), Vietnam. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on November 26, establishing a framework for collaboration under the national PM-USHA (MERU) initiative.

The agreement, which marks a key milestone for the Assam-based university, was signed by Dr Nomi Baruah, Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, representing Dibrugarh University. The partnership is designed to facilitate student and faculty exchange programs, promote joint research initiatives in cutting-edge fields, and create new avenues for international academic engagement.

Dibrugarh University Vice Chancellor, Prof Jiten Hazarika, praised the initiative, highlighting its alignment with the university’s expanded vision. “This collaboration with UIT is a pivotal step in our journey towards becoming a globally recognised centre of excellence. It will provide invaluable exposure and opportunities for our academic community, enriching the educational landscape at our university,” the VC said.

The collaboration is a direct outcome of Dibrugarh University’s selection as a Multidisciplinary Education and Research University (MERU) under the Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksa Abhiyan (PM-USHA) Scheme. Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in February 2024, the scheme granted the university Rs 100 crore to enhance its educational and research infrastructure. This partnership with a leading Vietnamese technological university stands as one of the first major international achievements funded by this national initiative, signaling a new era of global outreach for the institution.
