DHSK College Launches ‘Rukmini’ Bulletin of Girl’s Hostel

The annual bulletin ‘Rukmini’ of Rukmini Devi Kanoi Girl’s Hostel of Dibrugarh Hanumanbux Surajmal Kanoi (DHSK) College (Autonomous) was launched on Thursday (October 31) in a ceremony that celebrated the achievements and initiatives of the hostel’s residents.

The event, hosted by student Nibha Lahan, was graced by college dignitaries, faculty members, and special guests. Dr Sashi Kanta Saikia, Principal of DHSK College (Autonomous), delivered the welcome address and emphasised the importance of self-belief.

Release of Annual Bulletin ‘Rukmini’

“If a person has strong faith in himself, he can achieve success in life or do anything in life,” Dr Saikia stated. He expressed his delight in naming the annual bulletin after Rukmini Devi Kanoi Girl’s Hostel and thanked editor Bharshi Gogoi and all contributors for producing such an impressive publication in a short span. He also acknowledged JP Kanoi for providing financial support to the initiative.

Dr Gopal Chandra Hazarika, Member of the governing body of DHSK College, praised the Girl’s Hostel boarders for their proactive approach. “Nothing is completed by saying I will do it,” he remarked, commending their dedication to turning ideas into reality.

Dr Daisy Lekharu, a prominent writer, college alumna, and Assamese expatriate based in Switzerland, was the chief guest at the function. She performed the song ‘Mayabini’ by the late legendary artist Zubeen Garg and expressed her pride in attending the bulletin launch.

“I am proud to be present at the launch of the bulletin of the Girl’s Hostel of Kanoi College,” Dr Lekharu said.

Professor Urmila Ramchiary, Superintendent of Rukmini Devi Kanoi Girl’s Hostel, along with numerous faculty members, attended the programme. Editor Bharshi Gogoi delivered an eloquent speech on the bulletin’s publication and felicitated Principal Dr Saikia, JP Kanoi, and Superintendent Ramchiary for their invaluable support.

Niharika Saikia proposed the vote of thanks as the event concluded.

DHSK College was established on June 15, 1945, with the vision “Gyanat Paratarang Na Hi” (Nothing Better than Knowledge) to serve the higher education needs of upper Assam. The University Grants Commission (UGC) in April 2025 had recognised DHSK College as an autonomous college. The college in 2023 had also received ‘A’ grade in the NAAC assessment.
