CRPF Officer Pedals to Prestigious Endurance Title for Second Time

Defying age with unwavering determination, Sohan Singh Rawat, a 57-year-old Assistant Commandant with the CRPF posted in Dibrugarh, Assam, has once again conquered one of cycling’s most gruelling challenges, earning the prestigious “Super Randonneur” title for the second time.

The remarkable feat was achieved on November 9 in Guwahati, where Rawat completed a punishing series of endurance rides organised by the Guwahati Randonneurs under the aegis of Audax India Randonneurs. The title requires cyclists to complete a 200, 300, 400, and 600-kilometre ride within specified time limits, a test of both physical and mental fortitude.

Rawat’s journey to the title saw him finish first in all four events. He began with the mammoth 600km ride from October 11-12, covering the circuit from Guwahati to Tezpur and back in 30 hours and 15 minutes. He followed this with a 300km ride in 13.23 hours, a 400km ride in 18.46 hours, and capped it with a 200km ride in 8.19 hours.

When asked about his inspiration, the officer stated, “It is about pushing your limits and setting an example. Age is just a number; discipline and passion are what truly drive you.” He dedicated his achievement to his family and colleagues for their unwavering support.
