Bangajit Saha Takes Charge as Dibrugarh Airport Director

Bangajit Saha, a distinguished officer of the Airports Authority of India (AAI), assumed charge as Airport Director of Dibrugarh Airport on Tuesday. He was accorded a warm welcome by AAI officials and staff, along with former Airport Director Swapan Sarkar, upon his arrival at the facility.

Prior to this assignment, Saha served as Director of Gaya Airport, where he played a pivotal role in enhancing operational efficiency, upgrading passenger facilities, and strengthening overall management systems. His proven track record in airport administration is expected to bring fresh momentum to operations at Dibrugarh Airport.

A native of Bijni, Assam, Saha holds a Master’s degree in Commerce from Guwahati University. His extensive experience and leadership are expected to further elevate the standards of one of Northeast India’s most important aviation facilities.

“We are confident that under Saha’s guidance, Dibrugarh Airport will continue to grow and provide enhanced services to passengers. His experience in modernising airport infrastructure and improving passenger experience will be invaluable,” said an AAI official during the welcome ceremony.

The Dibrugarh Airport, constructed in the early 1950s and located approximately 15 km from Dibrugarh city at Mohanbari, stands as one of Northeast India’s busiest aviation hubs, handling over one million passengers annually. It connects major Indian metropolitan centers including Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Guwahati, and Bengaluru.

In February 2009, the facility underwent substantial modernisation with the construction of an integrated terminal spanning 113,410 square feet. Its 1,829-metre runway supports night landing and aerobridge facilities, reinforcing its status as a crucial aviation hub for the region.
