Assam U-19 Girls Badminton Team Clinches 3rd Place at National Championship

The Assam U-19 Girls Badminton Team secured the 3rd place at the prestigious Yonex-Sunrise 48th Inter-State, Inter Zonal, and Junior National Badminton Championship, held in Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh. The tournament, running from November 18 to 24, features over 400 young players representing 32 states and Union Territories.

Two promising shuttlers from Dibrugarh District Sports Association (DDSA), Gargie Saikia and Suchismita Chakraborty, were integral members of the Assam team, contributing significantly to their success on the national stage.

The Dibrugarh District Sports Association expressed its heartfelt congratulations to the entire Assam U-19 girls squad and extended special appreciation to the young athletes for making Dibrugarh proud. A statement from DDSA said, “We are immensely proud of Gargie Saikia and Suchismita Chakraborty for their outstanding performance and dedication, bringing laurels to our district and state.”

The championship drew participation from some of India’s best junior talent, including members of the Indian junior team that recently won the bronze medal at the Junior World Badminton Championship. The intense competition showcased exceptional skill and sportsmanship among rising badminton stars.

The Yonex-Sunrise championship continues to be a crucial platform for junior players to gain national exposure and experience, helping them progress toward higher levels of competitive badminton.
