The Khonsa Battalion of Assam Rifles organized a spirited “Fit India Run” in Khonsa town, Arunachal Pradesh, on Friday, drawing enthusiastic participation from over 170 individuals as part of the ongoing Fit India Movement. The event brought together a diverse group of participants, including residents of Khonsa town, villagers from Longding and Laju circles, school students, and fitness enthusiasts who traveled from Dimapur, Assam, and neighbouring regions to join the initiative.

Wanglam Sawin, MLA Khonsa East, flagged off the run and commended the Assam Rifles for their efforts in promoting unity and wellness. “The Assam Rifles have done commendable work in fostering youth engagement and physical well-being among the people of Tirap District,” Sawin stated, praising the inclusive nature of the event that attracted participants across all age groups and communities.

The Khonsa Battalion has consistently championed fitness, discipline, and constructive youth engagement through community-focused initiatives. Beyond promoting healthy lifestyles, the run strengthened bonds between security forces and local residents, embodying the Assam Rifles’ motto, “Friends of the Hill People.”

Participants displayed exceptional enthusiasm and determination throughout the route, reflecting growing awareness and commitment toward the national Fit India Campaign. The diverse turnout underscored the unifying power of fitness activities in bringing together communities from different backgrounds.The event concluded with all participants taking a collective pledge to maintain active and healthy lifestyles while promoting fitness and well-being within their respective communities.
“We pledge to carry forward the message of health and fitness to inspire others in our communities,” participants affirmed in unison.The successful organisation of the Fit India Run highlights the Assam Rifles’ continued dedication to community welfare and nation-building through grassroots engagement in Arunachal Pradesh’s remote regions.
