The Khonsa Battalion of Assam Rifles organised a series of patriotic programs across Tirap district in Arunachal Pradesh on Friday to mark the 150th anniversary of India’s National Song ‘Vande Mataram.’ The celebrations form part of a nationwide observance being held from November 7 to 14.

The main event was held at Khonsa, with simultaneous programs conducted in the villages of Lazu, Noglo, Wakka, Soha, and Deomali, ensuring widespread participation from different parts of the district. The multi-location approach allowed the Battalion to reach diverse communities and maximise youth engagement across the region.
“Vande Mataram’ is not only linked to the freedom movement of India, but is also a symbol of national unity and patriotic spirit,” Battalion officials stated during the commemorative events.
The programs were specifically designed to educate students and youth about the historical and cultural significance of the National Song while inspiring them to participate in the nationwide campaign.
A key highlight of the initiative was the encouragement given to participants to upload their individual and group renditions of ‘Vande Mataram’ on the official Government portal (https://www.vandemataram150.in/)
This digital component ensures that youth from the remote Tirap district can actively contribute to the national tribute, bridging geographical distances through technology. Assam Rifles officials announced that such outreach and awareness programs for the youth will continue in the area, reflecting the force’s ongoing commitment to nation-building and cultural preservation.
