DHSK College Leads Digital Revolution in Higher Education with Launch of ‘Karmabandhu’ App

Dibrugarh Hanumanbax Surajmall Kanoi (DHSK) College, a premier autonomous institution in Upper Assam, has further solidified its reputation as a national leader in Information Communication and Technology (ICT).

In a significant move toward digital governance, Principal Dr Sashi Kanta Saikia officially launched ‘Karmabandhu’ on Tuesday, a sophisticated mobile application designed to streamline administrative efficiency and transparency.

The ‘Karmabandhu’ app is specifically tailored for the college’s non-teaching staff. It functions as a real-time digital ledger, allowing employees to log their daily tasks minute-by-minute. This platform provides the college administration with an instantaneous overview of departmental productivity, identifying high-performing staff while curbing negligence and professional lethargy.

This launch is the latest in a series of technological milestones for the 80-year-old institution. DHSK College already utilises high-powered Learning Management System (LMS) software for academic records and student attendance. Notably, the college conducts its Students’ Union elections entirely online, allowing students to cast votes from anywhere in the world.

The college’s shift toward a “paperless administration” has empowered faculty and officials to execute their duties remotely, significantly accelerating institutional progress.

Recognising these achievements, AMTRON—the Government of Assam’s premier technology body—has designated DHSK as an ‘ICT College.’ Furthermore, the Director of Higher Education has formally recommended the institution for official recognition as a ‘Smart and Digital College.’

During the launch ceremony, Principal Dr Sashi Kanta Saikia emphasised the necessity of digital integration in modern academia.

“No institution can move forward without the help of technology in the present era. The ‘Karmabandhu’ app will not only keep track of employee contributions but will make our administrative system more orderly and responsible. DHSK College is making history in technological achievement in this country,” he said.

Vice-Principal Dr Partha Ganguli added, “The addition of ‘Karmabandhu’ has taken the college to a higher peak of technological advancement. it provides a new dimension to healthy, transparent administration.”

Established on June 15, 1945, DHSK College continues to balance its rich heritage with modern innovation. Already recognised as the “Cleanest College in India” and a “Centre of Excellence” by the United Nations North East Resource Centre, this latest digital venture marks a new chapter in its journey toward becoming a world-class smart campus.
