Dibrugarh Hosts Two-Day Workshop to Resolve Pension and GPF Issues

A two-day workshop aimed at addressing pension and General Provident Fund (GPF) related issues concluded successfully in Dibrugarh on Saturday, bringing together multiple government departments to resolve long-standing grievances of employees and retirees.

The “Pension and GPF Samadhan” programme, held on October 31 and November 1, was jointly organised by the Accountant General (A&E) office Assam, the ARTPPG department, and the Dibrugarh district administration. The initiative focused on resolving departmental issues related to pension settlements and GPF claims across various government offices in the district.

Principal Accountant General Dr Gaurav Kumar, who addressed the gathering, provided reassurance to attendees. “We will try to resolve the issues directly and immediately,” Dr Kumar stated, emphasising the office’s commitment to expediting pending cases.

Deputy Accountant General Snehasis Mukherjee followed with a detailed presentation explaining common errors in applications and provided proper guidance to prevent future mistakes. Additional District Commissioner Sultana Akhtara Ahmed highlighted the workshop’s significance, stating that such initiatives are highly beneficial for the district and its workforce.

The programme included a comprehensive capacity-building session that briefed participants on crucial processes, including final GPF payment procedures, settlement issues, and pension application protocols. Senior accountants from the Accountant General’s office conducted specialised sessions to address technical queries.

The workshop witnessed significant participation from Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs) representing various departments, Pension Sanctioning Authorities, Treasury Officers, retired government employees, and officers and assistants from multiple departments.

The collaborative effort represented a proactive approach by the state administration to streamline pension and GPF-related services, ensuring timely resolution of grievances and improving the overall experience for government employees and retirees in Dibrugarh district.
